Perhaps those Europeans have it right.

We recently had a guest dog. Her owners were over in Paris, sending postcards and buying cookies celebrating a brother’s milestone birthday and hanging out in cafes.

They brought us cookies to thank us for watching their sweet dog and I couldn’t help but notice the packaging. Cookies made by Kraft foods. But down there on the right hand corner, front of the box

1 cookie = 62 kcal, 3% GDA (presumably GDA = gross daily allowance). I mean don’t get me wrong, I eat enough milk chocolate and butter cookies to do the math myself — more than one cookie = more running necessary. But I love that it is right there on the front of the box.

Of course it didn’t keep me from eating my share of cookies, which led to a little crying from the youngest when she discovered, sob, that “there aren’t any French cookies left.”  Umm, not in this house with the milk chocolate fan home.
